MATSUDA TOUTA
Was born in December 14 1978, Matsuda is one of the police investigators working under the lead of Chief Yagami Soichiro. He sees his job as one of the sources of peace and happiness in this world and is eager to participate in removing dangers from the world.

When the name Kira appeared on the Interpol's wanted list, Matsuda was one of the determined individuals that are more than willing to risk their lives in order to capture Kira and bring back justice to this world.

However, the somewhat oblivious and naïve Matsuda often confuses Kira's doing--which is to eliminate all evil in the world--as one confused form of justice itself. He knew that Kira is a criminal and that he is supposed to be capturing him. But deep down, he can't help but think that Kira also helped decreasing the crimes in the world.

When it comes to working as a team, Matsuda is always eager to help and becomes a bigger and more important part of the team. He trusts his 'allies' completely and sees every each of them as his friends. And even partner-in-crime.

During the tragic moment which reveals the real identity of Kira--who is no other than Light himself--No one is as broken and betrayed as Matsuda, who always looked up to Light and sees him as a brilliant young man. The shock of knowing the truth leaves Matsuda outraged. Which leads him to shooting Light up to the point when he nearly killed him when Light tries to write Near's name on a piece of the Death Note.

Matsuda is, despite his job of being a police investigator, a person who easily trusts others completely. Many sees him as oblivious and naïve, and sometimes troublesome. Matsuda is friendly indeed, and he sometimes seems to be a klutz--being clumsy as he is. But he's incredibly dedicated and loyal.
He sometimes lacks of seriousness, and Soichiro even scolded him once for being flippant when the others are tense, concentrating deeply on their jobs. But respect and admiration is in him, alright. Seeing how he looked up to genius friend like Light and respected L just as much.
